Getting started with Lexio

From installation to your first rewrite, in three minutes flat. No technical setup, no credit card to begin.

Download and install

Download the installer from the download page, then run it. Installation takes under a minute.

Windows says “unknown publisher”?That's the standard SmartScreen warning for recent applications. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.

Find Lexio in the taskbar

Lexio doesn't open a window: it lives in the notification area, bottom right near the clock. On first launch, a notification confirms the Ctrl+Alt+W shortcut is active.

Right-click the icon for Settings, recent history and the AI engine choice.

Do your first rewrite

  • Select some text — an email, a message, anywhere
  • Press Ctrl+Alt+W: the popup appears near your cursor
  • Tick one or more presets (pro, shorter, email…) or type a free instruction
  • Click apply — the rewritten text streams in
  • Click replace: your original selection is replaced in place
Not sure before replacing?Turn on the diff view to see word-level changes, or click “refine” to rework the result. The undo shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Z reverts the last replacement.

Go Pro when you're ready

The free version gives you 10 rewrites a day. When Lexio becomes part of your routine, the Pro plan (€4/month or €36/year) unlocks unlimited rewrites, the 100% local, offline mode, side-by-side variants, auto-presets and history.

Activation happens right in the app: Settings → Go Pro. Details on the pricing page.

What's local mode? With Pro, Lexio can install the Ministral 3B model (2.1 GB) on your PC: rewrites then work offline and your text never leaves your machine. A built-in assistant handles the download and installation.

Quick troubleshooting

Ctrl+Alt+W doesn't respond.

Check that the Lexio icon is in the notification area. If another app already uses the shortcut, Lexio automatically falls back to another one (shown in the icon menu) — you can customise it in Settings → General.

The popup opens but says “select some text first”.

The text must be selected (highlighted) when you press the shortcut. Some protected applications (password fields, locked PDFs) don't allow capture.

Windows Defender blocks the installation.

Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. The warning fades as the app builds reputation with Microsoft.

I hit my daily free limit.

The 10-rewrite counter resets daily. For unlimited use, go Pro — €4/month, cancel anytime.
